Question: Laura Cholod wrote:
Hello-
I am trying to trace my family tree back. Ormond
Merrill married Abbie Quint in 1867. Cannot find
info on their children. My great- grandfather,
Earl Warren married Celia Merrill. Trying to connect
these two. Found Archie Merrill, but nothing else
about him.
Help?
Answer: Laura:
Your Earl Warren cannot be the child of Ormand
W and Abbie Quint. In the 1870 and 1880 census
They are with his parents in Conway NH with no
children. In the 1900 census, still in Conway,
Ormand W (8) , 1836 Nov, and Abby A, 1847 Aug,
m. 32 years, state that she has had no children.
What specific details can you tell us about your
Earl Warren [dates, location, spouse, children]?
We may be able to help connect him with someone
else.

Question: Paula Comstock wrote:
Hello,
What a wonderful web site - thank you for sharing.
I am trying to do the family ancestry/pedigree
for Ella Josephine Merrill (Comstock) who was born
circa 1853 in (perhaps) Illinois and married Thomas
Carter Comstock (1850-1923). This is my husband's
great grandmother and no one in the family has
been able to get any information about her other
than her marriage to Thomas. If you would be so
kind as to reply to this email, it would be most
appreciated.
Thank you, Paula
Answer: Paula:
We do not have your Ella Josephine in our database
of lineage known Merrills. We do not find record
of her m. in the online listing of IL marriages.
Where and when did she m. and where did the live
after they were m.? Who were their children? b.
when and where? Do you Know when and Where she
d.? Where wasThomas Comstock b.? m.? d.? who were
his parents. If we can't trace Ella, maybe we can
trace Thomas.
We do find an Ella, 17, in Rock Island, IL in 1870,
but we think she is not yours because one reference
says she is Ella Mary, and she m. Charles Everett
Hawley in 1873.
We also found an Ella J, age 6, b. IL in Minneapolis
in 1860, with her parents, J. C., 35, b. NH and
E. G., 26, b. VT We can't find them in 1870 in
MN and just given the initials makes it difficult
to know who you are talking about, or identify
them in another census. At ca 17 Ella may
already be m. in 1870.
Sorry we can't be more specific, but with more
info about the family, perhaps we can track them
down,

Re: Merrill family - Mary Merrill, 1775

Question: Jane Pratt wrote:
I have been unable to find any information on
Mary Merrill, born in 1775, who married Daniel
Skillings, on March 9, 1799. Daniel was born in
1775, in Gorham, ME and died on Nov. 13,1846 in
Portland, ME. Hopefully, you can help me.
Thank
you. Jane Pratt
Answer: Jane:
We are sorry, but
we do not know who your Mary Merrill belongs to.
We checked our "Lineage Known" database.
Of the about 1100 Mary Merrills, a dozen were b.
1775 +/_ 1 year. All of these were either m. to
someone else, or were b. somewhere else, not in
or near Cumberland Co. ME. Where did Mary and Daniel
m.? Of the 4 Merrill famlies listed in "Gorham
and Scarborough" in the 1790 census, only
one had a Mary and she was b. 1757, too early to
be your Mary. There were no Merrill families listed
in Gorham in the 1800 census
Our "Lineage
Unknown" file is at least as big as our known
file [over 56,000 individuals] and it is not computerized
but on file cards, arranged by the father name.
So not knowing the father's name it would be an
impossible task just to find out how many Mary's
there in the file.
Sorry we couldn't be more help,
