Merrill made his will 11 Dec. 1735, and it was proved
1 Dec 1747. To his son Abraham he gave all his housing
and land in Hartford and all his land in Farmington. To
his son Joseph he gave all his land and other property
in New Hatford, and £50. To his daughters Prudence,
Abigail, Margarett, Jerusha and Joanna he gave £110
each. He made Abraham executor and residuary ligatee.

"The
Merrills were prominent among the first settlers of West
Hartford. I find by the records of the church of that
place that sixty-four of the name have belonged to that
church - more than any other name." - (Barbour, "My
Wife and my Mother." [Hartford, 1864], page 20 of
the genealogical section.) Abraham3 Merrill
and his wife were among the twenty-nine original members
of the church, in 1713. In 1884 the membership of the
church included no Merrills.
